Can someone tell me if the VS level 2 dash beeps (similar to the handbrake/low fuel warnings) when the engine temp gauge goes up to the hot position? (engine overheat condition). And also did the VS have a power radio aerial fitted to all models?
Thankyou.
My VS Exec came out with a standard aerial....dunno about the overheat warning (fortunately)
Should beep when overheating.
Beeps
Stolen from 'beepping' post. Haha
EDIT: you said level2! Not sure....earth out sender and see???
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
The power antenna was not fitted to all models. Only the higher models received it - Berlina, Calais.
i dunno about the series 2, but my exec beeped when it got too hot, cant describe the sound, kinda rises in pitch (do do do do)
bought the car for $200 - burnout car
liked to overheat =]
When I bought my commodore [ series 1 ] it was 12 months old & had the power radio aerial already fitted, water pump went on her a while back causing it over heat but got no beeping sounds when it happened.
I have a series one vs 1995 and it doesnt beep when it gets hot either it might only came out on series 2 .
I earthed the temp sender wire out and there is no beep when the gauge goes to hot.The gauge goes way over the "H".About half again on the scale. The beeper works when the handbrake is on and the car moves or when it gets low on fuel so it definitely works. It just doesn't beep for engine temp.It should though,it would be better than just a gauge.Maybe the later ones do according to the answers I recieved on here. The reason I asked the about the aerial ,most VS's Ive seen have a power aerial.I thought mine might be broken but I think if it had a power aerial it would have switches to move the aerial up and down.Mine does not have these anywhere.Where would the up/down switches normally go anyway, can someone tell me that please,Ive never really taken any notice before when in op's VS's

If it doesn't have up/down switches then it has been fitted with an aftermarket unit. The up/down switches go in the space just below the head unit - along side the engine immobiliser warning light (if not fitted with climate control).
Thanks to everyone for the answers and info.Mine definitely has no up/down switch there,so no power aerial,(not that I really care).I just thought it might have one, just not working. Thanks again.
I forgot to mention that the buttons for the higher spec models are actually built into the head unit. That means that if the head unit has been replaced then you have lost the ability to raise or lower the antenna.
Mine still has the original radio/cassette unit.Theres nothing on it either about the aerial up/down,its only an executive, so Id say it never had one fitted as an option, but thanks for the info.Cheers.
Ive got a feeling you need a LUX or higher spec BCM to get power antenna.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
According to the VS gregorys workshop manual if the car is fitted with a low BCM,and it has a power aerial,it doesnt use the BCM to control the aerial,it has a power aerial module instead to control it.The med ,hi and lux use the BCM to control the power aerial though.Cheers mate.Thanks.
i have a vr acclaim and it has a power aerial, how ever the only control i have over it is when the factory radio/cassette unit is powered on the aerial rises and falls when the power is switched off.
