Hey,
changing over a auto tranny in a vs commodore this weekend. Any tricks to lining yup the tourque converter?
only ever done manuals.
Put the torque convertor on the tranny and then fit. When in place, bolt the torque convertor to the flex plate.
Its a real b!tch trying to install the tranny with the torque convertor on the flex plate. Have seen a busted torque convertor and a friend stuffed an input shaft trying it the hard way.
u shouldnt really do any damage to the input shaft u can break the pump easily thoujust make sure before u put it on jacks to bolt in, that the spigot/pilot (little knob) on middle of converter lined up flush with the mating surface of the belhousing, (only works on holden 6's thou) and lube the pilot with grease
with bolting up the converter, if uve got a later vs one of the 3 holes in the drive plate will be an oval shape and not round, move that hole to bottom and tighten that one up all the way and it will center up your other 2 with your converter perfectly
