hi all
just got a vr statesman and when i go to turn on the headlights to parkers, they dont turn on neither do the taillights or dash lights..... yet the normal head lights work and so does the high beam....
i checked fuses there fine and if i run direct power to the fuse under dash parkers/ tail lights/dash work but nothing when i turn the switch.... now could it be the head light switch....
or should i be checking wires behind the fuse box
cheers in advance for any ideas or advice

There are relays under the dash near the fuses that are for the park lamps and the rear window demister.Id try swapping it for the other one (rear demister) ,the park lamp one might be cactus..They are the smaller type of relay, not the bigger square ones. And it has a blue stripe on it.It has 4 pins. There are similar relays with a gold stripe, these cant be used there as they have 5 pins. The airbag relay is under there, dont remove it and turn the ignition key on.It will set an error in the SRS system and the SRS light on the dash will be on.You will have to pay to get it turned off again.Im not sure which relay the SRS one is.They are all marked under there on a sticker on the panel anyway.

Just try replacing the fuse as they may be stuffed but look ok.
Sounds like the switch mate.
But check all the relevant fuses.
If the fuses are fine check the relays see if the signal is getting sent down to the relay from the switch to energize the relay. There are some relays under the dash and the headlight relays under the bonet.
If there is no signal then it will be the switch. Just check for power with the test light.
Are you checking fuses with a test light?
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
checked all fuses , when we put direct power to under dash fuse area they all worked using the switch, i even replaced switch with new one, still no go.... we found some burnt out wires in engine bay near drivers headlight and replaced the plug and wires and we now have high beam both sides too, just still no dash lights or rear lights.. the break light and revers work just not standard rear lights or dash lights, we did check every relay and there all fine,, i told hubby it has to be a faulty wire from the switch to the fuse box under dash as like i said we get it working when we run direct power to it in fuse box...... if anyone has a wiring loom diagram that would really help.. it is for a vr v8 stato.. if can scan on computer then can email to me at

cheers for all the advice guys
