hey guys ive got a vr with a hissing noise behind vent controls on all settings except foot setting.aswell as when accelarating uphill i get a blast of air on feet. pulled the dash to pieces could find no probs .then discovered i have no vacuum tank. could this be the problem
Well yeah, that would be your problem. You are talking about the vacuum reserve tank under the left front guard, behind the bumper.
yeah its just that ive had the car a bit over two yrs with no probs untill a couple of weeks ago. the tank must have come loose and fallen off? "wierd" you'd think id notice something like that happen
Don't know where you live, but if you want a vacuum bowl let me know and you can have it for postage. I'm in NSW North Coast.
Although you said you checked it all, there could be a vacuum tube or connection that has fallen off, which could be that 'hissing' sound?
thanks NeilB pinched one off a mates wreck this morning still hissing it sounds like its coming from the little manifold that plugs into the back of the flow control
you have climate control? the leaks will be in the manifold that controls the vacuum to the various servo's that which on depending on where you want the air to go. common enough problem in older models unfortunatly

not climate control. has anybody fixed this problem? it's driving me crazy!!
would like to know this aswell
sometimes when i give acceleration air stops coming from vents and after u can hear a vacuum noise behind the dash
im thinking maybe ive knocked something when i installed new head unit
It is quite possible itchy.
You may have dislodged one of the vacuum tubes that run behind the head unit, from the connector block in the back of the heater controls.
Or the connector block itself could have been knocked out of place.
yea i think u might be spot on there now i just gotta build up the motivation to pull it all out and check it lol
never noticed it before replacing head unit and checked the guide on here on changing stereo and it says to watch out for the vacuum lines (of course i saw this after i installed it lol)
thanks for the reply

lol.. Yeah, it's easy to do, since the stereos bay and the connections on the back of the heater control is all packed in there so close together.
No worries mate, hope ya get it sorted.![]()
Also could be the Resistor, it's in front of the windscreen under the black oval shape cover.
