Hey guys bit of a problem, went around a corner last night and gave it abit it is automatic dropped back a gear and reved out like normal, next minute the car just cut out like i had my key on "on" the one after accessories.
Crawled it over to the side of the road as the power steering was not working, then it would not start, by the time i popped the bonnet and had a look underneath the car for oil etc, i tryed starting again and it started first go. Any suggestions?
Also in the mornings or lunch time from work when i first start the car, i put it in drive then go to take off and it kinda like lags, chugs or what not, like the motor is going to die or wont rev, only for about 5 seconds, then its good to go and doesnt do it until the next time the motor is cold.
Sorry bout the write up, cheers lads ;D
It could be the ignition control module or the hall effect sensor in the distributor.Plenty of people writing in about these things playing up lately on the 5.0 litre engine and with similar symptoms as to what you describe. These parts must be getting to "that" age. Also do an error check to make sure everything is as it should be with the engine management systems, heres the link that shows you how to do this test. Its easy to do.Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
Yeah i done the error codes only comes up with the "ok" code, o well try it again i guess :/, yeah cars done 212000kms now
my vs played up on me the other nite, no error codes shown. it died and wouldnt go again for about 2 hours. the next day it had a horrid misfire once it warmed up. i found the negative battery lead was loose where it bolts to the motor, tightened it up and she runs beautiful again.
if ya battery leads look like they have seen better days it might be worth throwing some new ones on, i was about ready to hunt down a replacement coil/dizzy/ignition module combo before i found the loose lead. even if it dosent fix ya problem it only cost ya $20
