97 VS starts then wont start

The red battery warning light comes on then when i go to crank it i get nothing. No noises just nothing. Then i try a few more times and it eventually starts.

Any ideas?

Try moving the gear selector back and fourth a tiny bit as you try to start the car.The inhibitor switch which stops the car being started in gear can wear and get out of adjustment.If you move the gear lever (wiggle it about a bit) and it then starts, the inhibitor switch is your problem.The actual switch is under the centre console next to the gearshifter.
