    Default New Wheels = Problem...Ideas

    Hey Guys

So got my 17" SS Wheels today, put the 1st three on, all sweet, got to the third, and no go.

Stock wheel off, look at the hub, and there is like a lip (kind of like a spacer, i suppose, but not a spacer...)

Heres a pic of the HUB, and also the back of the wheel (incase your unsure what it looks like)

    Any ideas??

Ok, so I guess I'm going to have to replace the front left hub, any ideas on rough pricing from wreckers?

Just replaced both front hubs today on VR with ABS and the old ones had the spigot like the photo above and the brand new ones had the same spigots as your photo - I thought the spigots were normal?

If its got ABS you will see the ABS modulator system in front of the brake master cylinder. Some VS's didnt have ABS.Mine doesnt (thank god).

Yeah I don't recall seeing any abs system...etc, which makes me think that someone put abs hubs on...

Even so, ABS or no ABS,it shouldnt make any difference to which wheel will fit, they should both be the same as far as I know.Ive never heard of them being different.

sounds to me like the edge of the hub is just peened over a bit and the alloy rim is a tighter fit than the steelie and hence wont go on...grab a flat file and run it over the lip to round it up and a bit of emery on the inside of the rim and retry it...i cant see how a disc is causing the prob when the disc only sits over the hub just like the rim does...the rim doesnt sit on the disc just butts up to it...

You may have ot wiggle it on. The mags on my VT are wiggle on fit over the hub that protrudes throught the disc.

That part should all be the same size.I thought they were all like that.My VS has ones like that.Id like to see a photo of your other one,you say its different and doesnt have it..I know the disk can sieze on there as it just slides over that like the wheel.Maybe its a bit rusty and built up a bit. Although it doesnt look like it .The wheel should slide straight over it.Its got me stuffed mate.Hopefully someone can tell us all whats going on there with it.Cheers.

Agree with the above - clean the rust off the spigot and clean up the the inside of the mag wheel - if possible measure both with vernier calipers, this will tell you for sure if it will slide over or not.
Please show a photo of the other side as I'm totally intrigued as to what is fitted.

In the top of your pic where the yellow line almost touches the spigot there looks to be an adge like its bee hit with a hammer, so as said before clean all the rust and scale from the spigot and the inside of the wheel and maybe run a file around the edge of the hub.
Some wheels are a tight fit and other are not same with spigots from different suplliers.
All the front spigots are the same wheel hub size (70mm) from VB-VZ with the the only difference being the brake disc hole size in VT-VZ being 71.5mm but there is a step for the disc to sit on but the wheel hub is still 70mm.
If the same wheel fits on any or the other hubs front or back then the problem is definitely with the hub spigot.
By the way does the brake disc slide off and on ok.
