VS Berlina
Most obvious difference is the motor. VRs have the old 3800 buick while the VS comes with the ECOTEC 3.8L, a difference in about 25Kw. Apart from that most things are pretty much the same on both models. Series 2 should have IRS compared to the live axle.

Yes,main difference is the motor but it IS the same old buick 3.8.Holden just gave it a total makeover and called it the ECOTEC.Another small thing is the key-less entry,push the unlock button once on a VR and all 4 doors will open,do the same with a VS and just the drivers door will open.Other then that,i think it was only badging and few new trims inside the car and a few options Eg Supercharger on Calais for VS and not VR

The difference is less than 25kw... it's roughly half that. 135kw to 147kw from memory.

I think the Vs have 2pack where as Vr is only single pack. As for the motor Both cars stock run the same time.

VR = 130kW
VS = 147kW

The ECOTEC was upgraded to 152kW in the VX. Even though the VS puts out 17kW more, both cars have the same 0-100 times, 8.9 sec. That's because the VR engine has more torque from lower down in the rev range. Drive a VR and it feels like it goes a bit harder, but the ECOTEC is a much smoother engine.

The VS also had the new Holden lion badge whereas the VR has the old lion badge.
