lol... just cos you have a 5 speed behind a V6 doesnt mean its going to go any better..... and no, a V6 might keep up till 80 but then its bye bye 5 litre

just cause its a v8 doesn't mean it will win. my chipped and worked v6 5speed munches my old mans chipped and slightly modified v8 5speed which has over 40rwkw more than my car.

You can beat a 5 litre in a V6 manual, it's been done plenty times, but only if the 5 litre is stuffed or has the wrong timing or any other number of common things. But you wont beat a fully functional 5 litre _ever_, the laws of physics are against you

i have a vn and my old man has a vs ute. i beat him because i pick up speed quicker. a v6 will always take of faster than a v8. top speed is where the v8 are in there prime.

man i have been off my p's for 4 years now. i drive my old mans ute all the tim eand i enjoy it. im not against them. but all you v8 people seam to hate the fact that sometimes a six will be quicker than you. hence why at this point in time i am sticking with my 6 cause when im at the local drags and guys like you pull up next to me in a v8 and at the end of the strip im in front i get a good buzz out of it. my six is not the fastes car in the land but its takin many a 5lt and will do for for a while

im keen. my money is i will have im on take off tho. as i said v8 are good up top. if he has some good work on his motor he would want to come out with the win. as would i expect him to win. i don't think that the v6 is the ultimate engine. but it deserves a bit more credit than what some people give it

I would be very surprised if your V6 makes better than a 9.8 1/8th mile at your local drag strip, where a good standard but tuned 5 litre will make 9.4, that's a monumental difference, It not just on the top end they are faster over 60 foot also, even over 1 foot. I know what your saying about beating 5 litres though because I've raced plenty of slow ones myself, but like I said not one single properly working 5 litre in the Country will run slower than 9.8 on the 1/8th mile but only 1% of stock+tuned V6's can make that time

My money is you will be eaten alive by foamy's VP ALLLLL through the run. I'd bet my LS1 on it

V6s don't really deserve that much credit... well not these ones anyway.. not unless we start talking about forced induction

Well, everything deserves credit...It's just dependant on what is' been compared to.

The Buick 6 compared to a 5 litre, not much credit for the 6.

The buick 6 compared to a lot of other 6s, deserves a little credit.

Admitedly, this credit is only for Nort to about 80km/h or so. Anything after that and the Buick is useless. (Well, atleast on the standard diff gearset anyawy)

Yeah, no one ever said the V6 was total rubbish, it's just not comparable to the 5 litre as far as an engine goes

to give you an idea, as all these v8 drivers cannot deal with the fact that a mildly modded v6 WILL beat a standard v8, my vs v6, holden CAI, mace 25mm manifold insulator, 1.9 YT roller rockers, pacemakers and 2.5"exhaust, bigger throttle body and ebay chip, 14.84@92.8mph at willowbank, against vy ss (i.e. 5.7L v8) 14.66@ i cant remember, but faster than me!
Mine now has a manual, will post time when next i can make it to willowbank!

Yeh of course a modded 6 is going to be quicker then a stock v8, its not hard to work that. What happens when you do the same kind of mods on a v8? People need to face the facts that the v6 is always going to be behind the v8
