Default I changed the regulator, now the battery light is on ALL the time?? Help Please

    hey guys
lately in my vr v6 commodore sometimes whilst driving and on startup the battery light came on and off and there was a whistling sound from the engine. i got told that it was most likely my regulator on the alternator. so i had a spare alternator sitting around and took the regulator off that. the bushes wernt that worn out. so i swapped them over and now when i start my car the battery light is on All the time and wont go off..
    what have i done?
    cheers guys

Just get another alternator, either second hand or a rebuilt unit.Noise from an alternator is mostly caused by worn bearing(s).Maybe you should try the other spare alternator you mentioned. Also the main charge wire that connects to the rear of the alternator is known for corroding from heat and causing problems, its worth checking it out too.

What he said!! The battery light not going off is a pretty good indicator that your alternator is on deaths door. Probably by changing over the regulator it pushed it over the edge.
