Hi all,
I'm not great with cars so please excuse my explanations of whats wrong with my car.
It's a VS 96 COMMODORE WAGON on gas with doughnut tank in the boot, it been running rough for a while but lately it's been just "conking out" while i'm driving, (when i've got my foot off the accelerator) I ran out of gas yesterday as the light indicators on the gas system told me I still has gas, anyways got gas in it and got it home. Then today I went down the street to do a few things and it "conked out " again (had full tank of gas so its not empty) it was alot hard to start this time, took ages nearly fatten the battery, anyways got it going but could tell it was just gunna keep stopping, it stoppoed again round the corner from home again, I looked under the bonnet and the (sorry bout this ! lol ) the circle thing in the front lefthand corner was/is FROZEN I know it's part of the gas system jut don't know what it's called, so does anyone know what's wrong with it, and if you do how much am I looking at to get repaired ????
thanks in advance
Adam.
Its the mixer and its supposed to have hot coolant from the engine circulating through it to stop it icing up.Its most probably the cause of your conking out, and if you dont know much about cars take it to a mechanic and get them to look at it especially since its on gas.You could though try flushing out the cooling system and the coolant lines(hoses) that run to/from the mixer. They may be blocked up with sludge, rust etc.

Its the convertor thats freezing up not the mixer thats located on the throttle body or in the intake duct . check your water level in your cooling system and check for signs of water or loss low water will cause air pockets in the cooling system and can lead to the convertors freezing , check for correct fittment of water hoses to the convertor and that they are not kinked , pressure test and bleed cooling system
Mixer, converter,I knew it was one of em.I dont have much to do with LPG cars as such.I know now anyway.
LPG requires a healthy cooling system in order for it to work efficiently. Proper servicing/tuning of your lpg a good idea and I suggest it is also running lean. Make sure your intake system is clean and all together with a new/clean air filter. Also consider getting it dyno tuned on LPG, car can be tuned as it is under load, supposedly driven. Upgrade to Eagle 1 LPG eliminator leads cost a little extra but def worth the money. I had a sweet VS II on LPG and I did all the cooling system, servicing, tuning it needed and it never skipped a beat.
Good Luck.
tap into the O2 sensor with a multi meter and read the output while driving this will give you a reading an a good indication of mixture settings on both fuels , dynos are a good tuning tool if you have access to one and the money to burn
