just wondering if the auto and manual commodore diffs were different, and if they are is there a way of telling. I got a wrecked VS manual ute here V6 all i want is the conversion but if it for instance has a LSD or lower ratio diff than what the hell might aswell put that in. Can anyone fill me in more. If there is a way of telling could someone put some photos up for me telling me what to look for.
Thanks Guys
ute diffs wont fit a sedan. If it is a LSD it should have a tag on it saying high performance lsd.
Can't i just change the diff centre. ie pull the axles out take old diff centre out, replace with new, can i not do this i am under the impression that they are centres are the same. Yes i do have live axle.
yes you can change the centers over there the same
Diff centres for these diffs are the same from vl turbo through to vt series 1 and also from what i hear, some skylines and also fords (28 spline borg warner). Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.
This includes irs and live axle
So by reading this can I replace a standard diff centre with a LSD centre if they are both from a Ute or Wagon (I have a basic model vs Ute)
you can get a LSD center out of anything sedan/wagon/ute/live axle/IRS all the centers are the same.
If i was you i would just buy a whole replacement diff for your ute that has a LSD center installed already, you can pick up good LSD's from the wreckers for around $300.
They are easy to change if you know what your doing it can be changed in 30 mins easy.
You need a complete diff out of a wagon or a ute to fit your ute, sedan ones wont fit.
i have changed several diffs to suit the opposite vehicle sedan to ute wagon to sedan by grinding the welds that hold the shocker mounts on till it separates them from the diff and re-welding the required shocker mounts to diff you have to be a good welder though. i think this is better than dismantling the whole diff to change center.
