Swapping ECU
Hopefuly someone here will be able to anwer this, I have a 93 vr and a wreck 94 vr series 2. I am taking parts from the wrecked one and I need to know if the ECU is interchangeable. I have already posted on the forum about the gearbox but now I need to know about the wiring as a so called specialist tells me that I cant simply swap the wiring or gearbox, but I dont put to much faith in specialists they seem to just want you to go there and spend money in their workshop. SO if anyone can help me I would be most apreciative.
Also if anyone have a VR Wiring guide that would be helpful
If the vehicles are both VR's with the same transmissions, the ECU should fit straight into the other VR.What series it is shouldnt matter,as long as their both VR.I think the ECU on manual transmission cars is different to the auto's though,so they probably cant be swapped unless the gearbox is being changed from auto to manual.
ok both auto both vr just one is series 1 with 4hdd and the other is series 2 wih 5hdd
As far as I know if the transmissions are both from VR's they should fit.The 6HDD in the VS had an extra pin in the electrical connector, the VR has 12 pins,the VS has 13 pins .If both the 4HDD and 5HDD boxes have the 12 pin connector,they will fit in a VR no problem.
