Ok so what size is the stock exhaust?? and just to let you know, i got lsd 4 pin, 3:4:5 gears , CAI, Filter k & n, pacemaker extractors with single cat and Vy v6 engine in my Vr.. but still haven't exhaust.. So with all these mods you still recommend i get 2.25 with rear muffler and center??
This question has been asked exactly like this by you 3 times now. It has also been asked in different ways by you. The advice has already been givern to you before, either go with it or do what you want.
Get a 2.5" catback system straight through with center muffler. That's exactly what i told the guy at the exhaust shop and this is what mine sounds like.
NOTE: Mine has K&N Filter and the catback system only, no extractors (they make it sound a bit better). Also the VR have a pit of a higher pitch.
I have a 2.5 inch exhaust with high flow muffler from cat back, and 3 inch oval tip with standard headers easy to fit you can buy it all off ebay and fit it yourself too. This is cheap and gives it a nice note.
If you knock some holes in your cats it'll be fully sic! 100Kw for sure!
I just love the way other motorists on the highway think it's an unmarked cop car.........
And Yes, it is a manual
i want my car quiet ,now if i delete the rear resi, do i lose a lot of power or not really?? cause i remember last time i got 2.5 inch straight pipe from the cat and back and it was an annoying sound lol
if you dont want it loud, then why do you want an exhaust? just get the 2.5" catback with the center and rear muffler then. should be fine for what your looking for. As for power, you will get a little bit of power gain (mine did) and your fuel consumption should better as it has less back pressure. how that helps
i want an exhaust cause i heard my car can breath better ,plus i just got pacemaker extractors so i thought i should get a exhaust system as well to flow better.. But i dont want a annoying sound cause last time i put a straight pipe from cat and back and it sounded like shit lol.. With the sports redback exhaust would you lose much power if u have rear and center muffler
i have a 2.5 catback and extractors on an ecotec and it doesnt drone at cruising speeds ( 60 or 100 on the highway , 1500 and 2000 rpm respectively ) , its actually not that loud unless the engine is reving out.
i heard putting 2.5 ull loose power, but if u put 2 1/4 ull gain power on a stock 6?
Buy both and see which gets more power better yet dyno it with each exhaust to see which has the better gain.
Mate get the redback sports system they should make it in different diameters no matter what you get there will be a gain (very small mind you) you will not loose power.
Redback system my ring! Guys buy em cause they're cheap, end of story. Flow is born out of quality material and workmanship. Get under the car, take measurements of maximum can size centre & rear, dig through (muffler manufactuer of choice)'s catalogue (can't beat Magnaflow), order cans accordingly, drive into local exhaust shop and say "Put these in this, thanks." 2.5", mandrel bends all the way. Job done.
Funny cos I dragged a guy in a V8 VS on the way home and beat him 0_o was surprised as hell. By the looks of it his car was just lowered with 20inch rims and a paint job. no idea what was under the hood but my car took off faster and hit 80 before he did. His front was at my cars rear. No idea how 0_0
Ow, also mine sounded louder...
Its funny how some people on here have a hangup about the V6 engine (usually V8 owners)and bag every V6 owner.Id say to get that hung up about it they must have had their ass kicked by a V6.This argument has been around since torana /falcon/valiant days at bathurst.(when they raced real touring cars there)The 351 falcon was the outright top speed winner(242 km/h down conrod) and the valiant 6 cylinder was the fastest car over the quarter,it was into the 13 second bracket. The toranas and falcons were doing 14's.You can go on about engine mods and changing diff ratios all day. This was how they were straight out of the box.(yes, each car could be ordered new with a lower ratio diff, but most werent).Ive owned and driven some excellent V8's and sixes too.A good six should always get off the line better,(depending on who is at the wheel),a V8 will catch it once its wound up a bit, unless theres something wrong with it.Theres not really a huge difference between the standard 5.0 litre and the standard V6.They are both pretty good engines.

I would agree with that comment. As less than ludicrous speed, it's more what you prefer. I like the lazy lope and note of a V8 myself, but don't for a minute think there aren't plenty of V6's about that could easy keep up with/beat my old bus until it's 10/10ths time. And even then, it would be a close run thing either way. Drive what you like and be happy I say.![]()
I like VS Caprices so much, I bought 2... and a WH Grange!
I got a 2.5 with only the centre muffler.
Sounds sweet, It's only loud when you get up it, And can hardly hear it at 100k's..Although mines 5 speed =D
If you are so undecided and refuse to take the advice of people on the forum, why ask the question?
You've been given advice before, if you don't agree with it go and speak to someone at a reputable exhaust shop and make your own decision.
