Default Lockup convertor not locking up

Ive noticed that when driving on long trips etc the engine check light comes on and the lockup convertor no longer engages...

This problem only happens every now and then and ive found that when I turn the ignition off and then on again its fine ..

Im quessing that its an electrical problem but dont know were to look..

    Its a vr 5.0 caprice..cheers

had it happen on my old Vr v6 towing a ski going to Mildura from Melb. It would only happen once it had traveled for an hour or two and it ended up being too much slip in the torque converter. Auto out job.

Check the transmission wiring and its connector for shorted out or broken wires or corrosion on the connector pins.

Do a fault code check as the engine light coming on and no lockup can be caused by a solenoid fault (there are 4 of these) in the transmission which will leave a code. Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
