hi i've had this problem for a while and thought i'd try and get some advice on it.
I've got a 1993 VR Senator and sometimes when the battery has gone dead and you go to start the car it will turn over and over and over and you can actually turn the ignition off and remove the key...even lock the car and walk away and it will continue to turn over it will only stop once the battery is completely dead or disconnected, i was advised it may be a starter motor issue or the lock barrel which i have checked electrially and everything is how it should be..
any advice would be great![]()
It might be the ignition switch behind the key barrel sticking in the "start" position.Or the starter motor solenoid might be sticking in the engaged (start) position. Also check the START relay under the bonnet near the fuses.Swap it for one the same just to try it to see what happens.Cheers.
if it is a faulty starter motor you want to get it changed asap, if it sticks on and burns out it can start a electrical fire in the engine bay
More then likely be a stuck ignition
but either way its a good way to burn out the starter
