If you already have a working key and live in the city you can go to places like Mr Minit and they can use your old working key to program a new one.I think this costs around $80 - $100 from what Ive read on here.Holden want around $100 - $120 for a new key and then you have to go to a holden dealer to get the new key programmed.Usually this costs anywhere from free to $50 to program it,about 30 seconds work for them..Thats just for the plastic keyfob remote part.If you just need the actual metal key part cut,it costs about $15 -$25.
I have seen them on ebay before too.And fairly cheap.I guess you would still have to see a dealer to get these programmed too.

Holden are the only ones who can fully reprogram a new key if you dont have a working one. They use your VIN code to download (from TIS2WEB) a security number for your car. This security number lets them program the new key to match your BCM security code..I live in the middle of nowhere so I have only bought them from holden, but Mr Minit is in shopping plazas etc, places like that in the larger towns and the cities..Mr Minit can't do a new key if you dont have a working one.Theres probably other places like Mr Minit .Im not aware of any though.

These keys can not be programmed from new unless you have a Tech 1 scantool and know your security code for your car,you usually have to see holden. There might be other places that can do it.Im not aware of any though. The ones Mr Minit do are part programmed (from your old key) and are then finished off by you putting the key in the ignition and turning it on or whatever they say to do.That just completes the process. If you try to put a brand new key from holden in the ignition switch and try to do the same thing ,it wont do anything.

If you have a working key Mr Minit (or similar)are a heaps better option,a fair bit cheaper.Your "thing" up in the corner of your posts shows you are in perth, there has to be a Mr Minit or similar there, surely..maybe try to googlesearch them.Or at least make sure you call a few different holden dealers over there and get some prices first.

Yeah, its cheaper than holden.I paid $120 to holden for a new key (just the plastic keyfob)and $20 for them to program it.Ive read on here about people picking them up from Mr minit for around $80 or thereabouts.

Go to your local Autospark and they should be able order in and program a new key for you, but you will prob have to get a blank key cut ( the bit that comes out of the key when you take the 2 screws out )

Some(not all) of the better car key cutters/locksmiths can key code remote's to cars too.
If you have a working one, all you need to do, is buy a key blank and remote, which you can get off ebay a lot cheaper than from Holden.
Then take it to the cutter/locksmith, get him to cut the key, and code the remote to your car, much cheaper than going to Holden.
