Hi, just got some tri-ys . just wondering how hard it is to bolt up at home, since the engine bay is so cluttered. Is there a how to guide on this? Do I need any new gaskets? These are going into a vs ute, they just came off another vs 5 litre ute.
Cheers

i got the exhaust shop to fit mine, they had to raise the left side of the engine to slide the pipes in.
not the type of job id want to do at home lol
How much did they charge you to do that? cheers.
the last set i fitted i did at home, the passenger side one dropped straight in but the drivers side was to tight so we had to undo the engine mount and jack the engine up a little then it dropped in to place.
okay. ill have a suss when i get them. Are there any gaskets or anything that need replacing? Did it make much of a difference power wise, or sound? cheers
you will notice the sound difference thats for sure, you will need 2 new exhaust manifold gaskets (1 for each side) 2 header to Y piece gaskets and a Y piece to cat gasket and a new set of extractor bolts if you have standard headers on there now.
I would also grab some exhaust assembly paste and put a thin smear on all the Y piece gaskets, will help make it a gas tight seal.
Pfft - quite a straight forward job. I presume they are 1 5/8" primaries which are dead easy to install. RHS is a little difficult to wiggle thru but isn't so bad. Undo the two bolts that hold the rack in and swing it down out of the way. I'd use new gaskits.
Reaper
Which rack are you referring to that i should undo the bolts? Cheers .
ill have a crack at it on the weekend. Will upload video perhaps, of the new sound when done.Car has custom cam, so should help it a bit too.
He means the steering rack.Which rack are you referring to that i should undo the bolts?
alright. just worked that out myself. cheers
