Default VR - Elec Window Switches

I just picked up a VR commodore exec (Build Jul 94) as a run to town car, Its in great condition with only 2 faults , 1) the Elec aerial is faulty, 2) the left rear and right rear elec window switches are dead.

Now digging around the wreckers for VR elec window switchs has turned up heaps of them, however thay are not exactly like mine, The standard VR switches seem to be in 2 banks of 2 switches and a "child Lock" switch.

Mine has a single bank of 4 switches (apprk 40mm x 120mm in size) and a "off - on" switch in the centre

The actual switches seem to be the same, just the mounting appears to be different.

Anyone got any idea whats going on here? Do i have a VR that has been modded ? or did they infact have two different switch plates for the VR ?

    Thanks
    Greg

The VR Exec did not come with power windows. A previous owner has installed them at a later date and for whatever reason has modified four single switches and made them into one. Why they didn't use the two banks of two switches is anyones guess. I would also hazard a guess and say that the two rear switches are not connected to anything and probably still have the original winding mrchanism behind the door trims that have been replaced.

Nah, there connected, If i switch the plugs to the front bank of switches, the back windows go up and down. The actual switches look very similar to the inside of the standard curved ones. Just wondering if the standard ones allow the switches to be pushed out from the curved facia ?

The actual switches must be from something holden ? Just can't seem to find out what ?

I've not seen a switch set like it before - tho the buttons look like Holden units.

If the rear windows work when you plug them into the front - it has to be the way the rears are wired in for sure.

The switches are the single ones from the rear doors. The fact that the rear windows are able to be plugged into the FRONT rocker switches indicates that REAR rocker switches have been used. They have been crudely joined together - as I stated previously. The proper front rocker switches should not be able to be plugged into the rear doors.

they looks diffrent from any holden design i have seen. if both your rear windows are not working maybe the problem lies in the jerryriged child lock setup, maybe try and jiggle it a bit and see if it just stuck

Looks after market switches to me.
