Hey guys,
My Sister's Boyfriends engine appears to have seized (we think the timing chain snapped) and he'll need an engine change.
I did a bit of a search, but was wanting to know how much work is involved. Ive done a lot of mechanical work on my VX, so i should be capable, just wanting to know if theres anything i should look for.
Also, what sort of price should i be paying for an engine from the wreckers? I want at least a 30 day warranty (Ideally 3 or 6 months). We can reuse the bolt ons (Eg exhaust, alternator, P/S, Aircon etc).
If anyone is aware of a guide or thread it would be appreciated.
Cheers, Errol.
Buy a workshop manual for $50.It has everything you need ,plenty of pictures with step by step instructions.Well worth it.Especially for the job you want to do.
a wreckers i asked recently said around the $600 mark for a second hand ecotec thats been tested with warranty etc.
As Brett says, a workshop manual is the best bet. Gregorys is the best one and if cash is short borrow one from the library.
