hi all need to pick your brains got a few issues with the VS thats going to be fixed over the next week or 4, was going over the car this arvo grabbing a finial replacement/inspection list and 2 things that are worrying me are these,
The induction noise: got louder over the last few days ( started about a week ago ), iv checked everything that came to mind, seals/gaskets are fine no leaks, clamps are tight with no leaks, air filter is almost new, sencors are tested and fine, yet it still has very loud induction noise ( even at 60kph i can hear it as if im driving without the induction pipe on and it running straight from the throttle body, will do this all day no matter how much i drive it ) watch the video and make a guess, im out of ideas

Tappet noise: i think?? after car has been started it makes the tapping noise then goes away, on idle you can only just hear it, bring the RPM up to 1500rpm it gets bloody loud ( you'll be able to hear it in the video at the end, must listen carefuly thou as the induction noise is drowning it out ), all i can think of is have i got a lazy rocker? broken valve spring? bent valve rod? its got me beat, anyone know?

please people i need a hand here
cheers
i cant see why that induction noise should be so loud with the box clipped shut , is the box properly clipped shut? dumb question i know but its all i can think of.
the induction noise is the sound of air going through the IAC valve to keep it idling its normal .rattling could be tappets ,balance shaft, cam bearings all sorts of things
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Ahah! I been wondering about this myself, I also have a VS as a daily driver.
The induction noise is very loud on cold start-up, then gets quieter and drops off to almost nothing one the engine has warmed up.
But does come back if the car has been sitting for any length of time.
Now I know what it is, I'm glad this it's normal, thanx delco!![]()
it depends how far open the throttle is set at idle your engine may be straining and needed extra air to keep it idling at the speed its set at or it was allways there and you just realised.i can hear mine even aftwer it goes through 2 meters of cooler and piping LOL

lol.. Yeah, may need to look at getting a tune done at some place like Ultra Tune or somewhere like that.
But as long as it's not affecting you fuel economy, and the engine still runs strong and smoothly, I wouldn't be over concerned about it.![]()
yeh not overly concerned about it, the tapping noise is peavin me off thou, im thinkin hell with it and drop a 5ltr in lol
with the induction noise, if it doesnt go away your induction pipe may have a split in it, i have the same thing, slight split/hole.
if you want to check its 'air tight' spray crc along the pipe and if the revs pick it, u have a hole.
lol.. Yeah I know what ya mean about the tapping, mine's started doin that lately too, so now I just the stereo up louder and ignore it..![]()
I just wish I was rich enough for an engine conversion, I'd buy one of two cars in town a mate and his dad are selling.
The father owns an original VN Group A!! And the son owns a nice VR 5ltr, full Calais interior, nice custom paint.. both in top condition.. man, if only.. lol![]()
found out what it is, i adjusted the level RPM idle but not the base idle ( which is causing the IAC valve to open more causeing more induction noise )
