Default Replaced rear exhaust now VR wont start

    G'day Guys,

I have finally replaced the exhaust system on my VR wagon. Its funny as it started without the rear section of the exhaust on but as soon as I put the new one on it wont start. It was low on fuel but have put an extra 15 litres in.

I removed the rear section of the exhaust to see if it would start but had no luck. I can hear the fuel pump working, but oddly there is a clicking/whirring/pulsating sound coming from near the centre console at the same time.

I replaced the fuel pump relay, put a new battery in but it still will not kick.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks guys

Hard to tell exactly, but 'sounds' like maybe the fuel pressure regulator is having issues?
Although I don't know why this would happen after an exhaust change, as they are not related.
You didn't do any welding or anything like that to the exhaust system while it was still attached to the car?
That can blow fuses, and your ECU, then nothing will work.
Best thing I can think of is go through the basic check list- Fuses, relays, all connections, starter motor, coils..
Maybe check your Fault Codes(there are threads in here that explain how to do that), is the oxy sensor still connected correctly and not damaged?
Check fuel flow up to the engine, make sure your fuel filter isn't blocked.
Does it turn over, but just not fire? Or not even turn over at all?
If it's auto, make sure you inhibitor switch is working correctly while in P or N, and not stopping the car from turning over.

Thanks for the quick reply mate,

Checked the fault codes all fine there. I didnt do any welding so thats not the problem. I have also checked the inhibitor switch all fine there also. The only major drama was low fuel, I will check off a few of your suggestions to see if they fix the problem

It wants to start, but just wont kick.

    Thanks Smithy

Will try a few of the suggestions you made

does it wind over at all? or does it turn over but very slowly or winds over fast and still no fire?

Being low on fuel, jacking it up may have let the pump run dry for a short period, which can stuff the pump.
