as the title states, will brake calipers of a vt ss fit a vr v6 as if i was doing the vt v6 brake upgrade?
what parts do you have for the conversion. some kits require an adapter for the calipers some dont, im unshure how or why they would not include an adapter if it is required. also any vt caliper should fit, and i do not beleve the "ss" had bigger brakes, ive never fitted diffent pads to a vt, all the same
i dont have an adaptor i just saw a vt ss for sale and wondered if it would fit
as far as ive looked in to it you need the rotors some spacers for the calipers and a 1inch master, the booster is also the go for a better brake pedel also
Rotors and calipers will bolt straight on, except for....
..the VT rotors have a 71.5mm hole in the middle and the VS rotors have a 70.0mm hole. You can buy a shim to fit over the hub to make up the difference.
..the VT uses a master cylinder with a 1" bore. VR uses either a 7/8" or 15/16" bore (I cant remember which, I think one is V8, so investigate) so you will need to upgrade the master cylinder tp prevent a low pedal. A 15/16" work OK from memory but 1" is better.
If you can find some, there are "VS upgrade" rotors available. Basically a VT rotor with a VS size hole in the middle so no shim is required.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
alright, thanks for your help guys
to do a 300mm conversion aka VT conversion, the caliper bolts straight on (using the correct rotor), if you want to use a 330mm conversion then you need to use the adaptor with the caliper and 330mm rotor. at least thats how i understand it works. you'll also need to get some different brake lines as they use different fittings on the VT style caliper
