OK so my cousin loves the look of his holdy but wants a jappa engine in it. He is still tossing up whether to go rb30det or rb25det, so he has asked me to come on here and suss out how hard the conversion would be and the things he should watch out for.
So with that in mind here are some questions.
1.) Ecu and wiring side of things, Would you/could you use the factory ECU?
How difficult would it be to wire it all up, speedo and engine management
side of things aswell as the BCM as its a VS V6 currently.
2.) I assume we could just use a VL subframe am i right?
3.) what do you guys reakon rb30det or rb25det?
4.) anything else you guys think will be an issue?

from what ive read you cant put an older motor in a newer car i may be wrong but might be something to look into, im sure someone else will have more info on this
you can here in NZ we don't have any emission laws or anything like that

heheheh well here in NZ rb's are cheap as chips i think he's really set on the 25 but the 30 stilll appeals to him we just need to sort out how you do all the wiring and running the ecu and shit

the 30 twin cam is nothing but trubles unless you do it right the first time.
i had a 25 non turbo ina vl and it hardly moved due to the diff gears. vs have 3.08:1 in nz still? you may need a change to 4.11:1
wiring side of things it will need to be the motor engine ecu or a wolf or somethng like that and matched to the bcm. i am unshure how to do this as ive never gorn in to it on a newer commodore.
my advise sell the commodore and buy a skyline you will save your self thousands
bro tim honestly this aint even a serious question man go the rb30det man just with forged pistons they can get reliably 800 hp well our friends at r.i.p.s can they can do a 1200hp short block for 10 k bro so the rb30det aint even a compition if you want best flowing heads go the gtr head on the rb30det you can even get rips to prep the engine for big boost if you like even jsut check over it a standard crank can handle over 1000hp and the rods alone can handle 800 hp and thats standard rods
i talked to rips not long ago and they were more than happy to do a prep cheaply and a rb30 also is cheaper to get than a rb25 i recon at the end of the day the above is just my opinion but when a standard crank can handle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo75l...eature=related this you cant complain
YouTube - RIPS skyline starting burnout in 4th and another 4th gear burnouts on there promo vids it shows says the do 6th gear burnouts for fun
sorry man ... we do ... but depends on the year of your vehicle
