Are they worth buying, i dont mind the sound, but again the sound like an rc car if you dont have the exhaust behind it.

Heard a vr with one the other day pulled up few cars behind me and gave it a rev to keep it from stalling thought it was a supercharger for sure.
All good to have the sound of one though until you get lined up with one with an actual s/c lol.
But they do sound pretty nice though
Thats sick. Bit of reading up about it/youtubing wouldn't mind getting one.
Any downfalls of having one?
If you are pulling enough revs to throw belts then yes otherwise perhaps you need some private time with just you and mrs palmer????
Reaper
it does sound like my supercharger lol just wondering tho whats the point for it? is it just for sound or strenght?

Should've known Id get stung for that question haha.
I have no idea what they are, how do they differ from a powerbond balancer or the like?
they arent really worth it on a stock engine. the noise is mostly for the wank factor..but they are generally are used for stopping belts slipping hence the teethed belt

Troy5L - yeah I those kinda vibes from it. fair bit of a mission changing pulleys, etc just for it to be noisier.
i would only do it if you have a supercharger to run it on
that sounds pretty tough... but as vt s said, if someone in a super6 pulled up next to you you would look like a right ******
Sounds like my car at the moment with the stuffed AC compressor bearing.Exact same noise.
lol brett - cheaper than a new belt - NOT. seriously if u want the sound of a s/c then buy one but make sure your engine is not too worn to handle it. On the other side, don't try to make your car something it isn't ie. race car. New belt and pulleys sound fabulous but be honest. My opinion only - no offence.
You can have the Gilmer without the noise!
The noise is only trapped air being compressed.........same as a supercharger.
I like my Gilmer.....& i'm keeping it!![]()
