I have a 96 VS Berlina series 2.
I just wanted to know, what would be a good exhaust upgrade? (as i only have stock)
I don't wanna buy extractors or anything yet, as I don't have the cash.
I'd like a deep note outta the car, but not so it sounds like an old bomb.
Any ideas!? Thanks!
Im takin my VS V6 into the shops in bout 2 weeks time, getting a 2.5inch exhaust cat back s/steel tip. seems like the pretty standard exhaust type for these
$280 for Exhaust and $80 tip, but thats the dearest tip cheaper ones
Contact not an abba fan mate i think he can do you a 2.5inch cat back pretty cheap. Thats the bes thing for an ecotec.

Ecotecs sound alright with a 2.5inch cat back, not too loud but u don't fall asleep either
I have a VS s2 v6, when you say 2.5' cat back, is that just pipe right to the back then add tip or is there mufflers aswell? thanks
From the catalytic converter back (cat back)is replaced.
yeah mine has a rear muffler looks like it been there from factory, would i have that taken out and replaced with pipe?

thanks for clearing that up, only had the commy for just over a week
No worries champ. If you have a bit of mechanical knowledge hit up not_an_abab_fan for an exhaust and fit it yourself, you'll learn alot and save cash too.

Thanks for your insight guys.![]()
Oh and would it be better to keep the muffler/resinator? Or delete it?
Remember I want a nice rumble but not so it sounds like a shitbox ha! And I want to have a nice idle and cruise soud, not just have it sound good when i give it some!
Thanks again!
Its entirely up to you mate. Personally I would say keep the rear resi, or everyone will think you are a wanker when you are looking for a park at the supermarket. Every other member here will tell you to lose the resi. I dont know why, maybe they dont ever need to go to the supermarket.
On a side note, getting a tune from delcowizid or green foam that advances your timing a bit will help you with the lower exhaust note you are after. I got a tune from Delcowizid for my completely stock VS (normally run on shell 95) and it made my exhaust note noticably deeper. The exhaust note changed when he real time tuned my VR too, but thats a whole different kettle of fish.
The system without the rear resi doesn't sound too bad on the live axle models, on the IRS they can be a bit loud and drony as the front muffler is different.
A cat back with no rear resi is $230 shipped, or $280 shipped with.
Drone? Sorry, what do you mean
mate, just cut the rear muffler off and put a tip on it for around 100 bucks and it will sound a lot better.
Yeah well mine is live axle. $280 shipped with . . . ?
And how much for a twin 3" stainless steel tip?
A twin 3" stainless tip will be $100, the same thing in mild steel chromed is $75.
