Hi all, could someone please tell me what the procedure is for replacing the rear shocks on a VR? I've found loads of threads covering fitting new springs but not a whole lot regarding shocks. Thanks in advance for the help guys and gals.
Just undo the shock at each end,one end is in the boot under round black plastic covers(Unless these covers have neen lost), and the bottom is on the diff housing.Undo the top mount first and then undo the bottom one, compress the shock and then remove it.
Sweet thanks for the heads up. It sounds a lot easier than I was expecting.
Yeah,it is an easy job.If you have trouble holding the shock from turning when you try to undo the top mounting nut, theres a little flat part on the very top of the shock(just above the top nut) that you can fit a spanner to to hold it from turning.Sometimes this little flat bit can snap off,or round off.If this happens just get someone to hold the body of the shock from under the car while you undo the top mounting nut.If you run into any trouble just post, and someone here will be able to help.Cheers.
