G'day,
I have a VR Berlina and the BCM is playing up,the wipers won't work on intermittent and it's starting to get a bit annoying, my question is, can I do a straight swap with a unit with the same code, or does it have to be fitted and calibrated by a dealer, for it to correspond with my key head, if it is a big deal then I will probably just leave it be, but if it is as simple swapping the BCM over that would be great,
Thanks,
Darren.
The keyhead (or fob) has to match the BCM.(the security codes in the keyhead and the BCM have to match). You will need the ignition keyhead from the same car the BCM comes from.Im not sure if holden can use a Tech 1 scantool to change the BCM security code to match your key.I guess they would have to be able to as its similar to when they fit a new BCM,it would have to be programmed to match the ignition key.Ive always wanted to know how holden go about renewing BCMs and what they do about the keyhead, but have never really exactly found out the process.

Then there is the option of getting a MEMCAL with the BCM code by-passed. Will the auxiliary BCM functions still work with the bypass programmed?
Can't the key be programed like the Falcons?
So I have to take it to holden to get a key programed that sux The ford ones you can do your self
