    Default Manual Conversion Help Needed

hey everyone, i have a VS V6 auto and am planning on converting it to a manual. i can get a T5 gearbox out of a VR along with the pedal box set up etc etc. im aware i will need to get a 8puk flywheel for it as opposed to the 6puk one that is currently on the gearbox. my question is, do i need to get a ecotec manual engine loom and computer or can i use the auto ones the car currently has? ive been told that the auto ones will cause the car to cut out at 5,500rpm whereas the manual ones will cut out at 6,500rpm. is this true? can someone please help me!!

The rev limiter is the same auto and manual as far as im aware, no way it would be 6,500rmp anyway.

If the gearbox is coming from a VR it should have a 8 bolt flywheel already.

who ever you are getting the VR gearbox from, ask them for their flywheel, or alternatively find a wrecked S2 VN or a VP

Yes, you need the VS manual loom and ECU. Using the auto loom and ECU just causes headaches.

vs is a little different than doing vr .you can find a police RF ecu or super 6 ecu which do manual and auto and then swap some wires round to get it all working properly .or can do the cheats way and slap in a manual tune in the auto ecu and run like that but it wont see speed and may stall a bit
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong

making my last post completely useless lol i thought the VR and VS would be basically the same principle

thanks for the extra info delco

i support what r.j.k said, it will run with the auto cpu but it will run better with a manual cpu your revs will take longer to drop in between gears yousing the auto cpu on a manual..
    looks tuff goes like hell..

VS RF and L67 ecu's have the components inside to read a manual VSS (speed sensor) where the standard auto ones cant.. if you use a manual ecu you will need a full manual wiring loom aswell. (and they are harder to find)
    Power is measured in DECIBEL

    hi, on a vs v6 t5.
just wondering, I thaught the ecu was the same it was just the memcal?
or does the manual ecu have extra/different circuitry inside?
So does that mean the manual ecu and memcal is needed?

And i can see on a wiring diagram the manual speed signal entires the ecu through D2 pin
where the auto enters through D5/ C6

Could the extra wire for D2 be added to the auto loom to convert it to a manual?
to save buying the manual loom?

yes manual T5 ecu ,police RF ecu,l67 ecu and some of the vs auto ecu's have the circuitry to run both auto and manual just not all the auto ones do it.holden fixed this in the VT making all ecu's do noth thank god.and yes you can use the old auto wires to feed power and earth to the sensor and send pulses to the ecu .there is allready a switched power in the auto plug ready for the power feed just beed to do the earth and pick what colour to use for the pulses and wire it to the sender and the correct ecu pin

    Hi,
thanks for the reply delco wizzard,
do you have part numbers for the auto ecu's which can be used if not the police ecu's?
    Whats an RF ecu?

Where would you say the best place to find 1 is?

Does this mean i can just mod the auto loom to have the d2pin speed signal to ecu pin (with revers/inhibtor wiring mods)
and use an manual ecu to acheive factory results.
(no stalling and no fault codes/ proper speed signal to ecu?

    Also what ecu would u recomend to run a ecotec t70turbo / manual/ 4:11 spool/roller rockers/ cooler/ plenum/runner spacer/ 12 psi stock internals/ 36lb super6 injectors bigger fuel pump stock fuelreg?

And map or maf? thanks for your help. its quite a confusing subject
