ok well ill get straight to the point. this has been a re occuring problem for a while now
ill park on my front lawn which is on a slight incline so i park uphill evry night. when i go to start it in the morning bang it will start no worries more or less every time
but when i drive to work or any where and have my car on the flat or even on another hill (usually for a long period of time) ill come back to start it and and i will turn the key and it will just turnover (usually keep key turned for bout 3 seconds)
then ill give it a couple of seconds and turn the key again (having to put my foot to the floor on the accellerator??) and after a few turnovers it will start pretty much every time.
i have no idea what is happining but i do the same sequence every time and it will start after the same steps every time.
so i dont no what is happining so just after some help of you guys, suggestions or wat not.
Thanks
This is what is written in the workshop manual.=If the fuel pump relay is faulty or fails, power will be supplied to the fuel pump via the engine oil pressure switch. When starting the engine, the fuel pump will not operate until the oil pressure is sufficient to extinguish the oil pressure warning lamp. Therefore if the relay fails it may be nessessary to operate the starter motor for a longer period than usual to start the engine.

o ok this is interesting. well when i purchased the car the oil pressure switch was leaking????????? so i had this replaced but is still doing it. would there be a problem that causes this to leak
or just coincedental? its not leaking now but yeah. so wat you are saying is that i must put the car on Reds for a longer period of time before trying to kick the engine over?
no what brett is saying is that if your fuel pump relay fails power is taken from the oil spresure switch circuit to power your fuel pump and the oil pressure must increase before this will happen, you increas the oil pressure as the motor turns over with the starter, so you need to turn the motor over longer before it will start if you have a fault with the pump relay
Just try swapping the fuel pump relay with the LP check relay, these are both located under the bonnet near the fuses.Once youve swapped them try to start it and see if its any better. If it is ,just go buy a new relay.Take the old relay with you when you go to get a new one, just to make sure you get the right one, theres a few different ones available that all look very similar..If theres no difference then you can rule that out as being the cause of your problem, and move on and check out something else that also might be the cause. The process of elimination.
o ok well thanks guys. ill be sure to give this a try tomorrow afternoon. ill let use guys no wat i come up with![]()
could be ignition module on its way out.. when it warms up
Yeah i have no ideas when it comes to electrics and stuff on cars. all i no is it has no problem clicking over and such.
hopefully Bretts idea with the relay helps me outif not im back to square one. all suggestions are takin in to consideration
though untill it is fixed![]()
Ok so i tried to change the 2 relays over but it done the same thing?? im soo fed up with it hey, had new plugs and all that shit changed recently so u wouldnt think it would be them, allthough one of the plugs that came out was a bit corroded??? any other suggestions
Its a long shot, but there might be coolant leaking into one of the cylinders and stopping it from winding over straight away as the coolant has to be sqeezed back out the way it came in,usually through a blown head gasket. This is fairly rare on the 5.0 litre engines but it can happen.Does it use any coolant at all?If yes, then maybe get a compression test done on the engine, and get the cooling system pressure tested. At least you can rule that out if it turns out not the be the problem, and you will know the true condition of your engine. These tests are cheap to get done, but phone around for prices.
