    Question strut brace

hey, just wanting to know if ne1 thinks a strut brace is worth it?
its for a vr clubby wags. 5.0 of course.
ive got an adjustble panhard bar in the back, thought id top it off with a brace in da front.
    thanks.

Probably more or less wank factor unless your racing, or driving pretty hard.

There is a thing called a monkey brace which sits behind the front seats it's a rear stiffening brace.

holden fitted them to the 6 Lt v8's as it was too powerfull for the current body...lol so im guessing 260 kw is enough power before you need one.

so if holden deemed em fit for a standard road car been driven at road legal speeds, imagine how much it's needed for a car been driven in a spirited fashion. plenty of people with outputs greater then 260kw in commodores so i don't think 260kw would bother the chassis that much. fact is when pushing a car through a corner at maximum grip there is a huge load on the strut tower. can you tell me how thick the sheet steel is that is used in the strut tower? and can you then tell me that there is no flex?

No, they exist. Seen a few on import cars, never seen one on a Commodore.

its all to do with adr's i reckon.

and with the roll bar for the rear, solid axil rear ends have a roll bar but your thumb would be thicker than std

if you fitted a true coil over suspension setup in the rear of a commodore you would need to re-inforce the shock mounts and brace them as they certainly aren't designed to take that kind of load. because of the rear suspension design, in particular the location of the springs in the rear end (of a standard live axle/IRS commodore) there is no reason to fit a strut brace in the rear. for the VE with a coil over setup it would be a different story.

yes, well the anti-roll bar or sway bar is a completely different story and does a different job. sway bars are used to tune the suspension. get it wrong and it can make the car very dangerous to drive.
