    Default VS Wagon fuel economy

What ways are there to improve the fuel economy on my VS wagon? Taking for granted that pulgs, airfilter are good. I get 12/13 litre per 100 k from it.

OK some tips for fuel economy:

    basics,
i use a 15w40 oil which at the moment is a diesel oil, to clean things out and its no different to 20w50 as far as I'm concerned
auto serviced and in good condition
alternator in good condition and battery also in good condition - modern cars need good electronics - on another note to electronics earth points, make sure there clean and tight
tyre pressures set to 32 psi min, pump them up to 34 36 for better rolling down the high way, don't go above 40 psi (cold) (hotter tyers gain 2 - 4 psi when they get hot)
excessive weigh in the car removed
wheel alignment, toe set between 0 and 0.04 deg positive
spark plugs air cleaner plug leads etc general servicing of the engine.
failing all this a chip may improve the performance as well as economy

Just keep everthing serviced. The oil, fuel and air filters. If its auto, change the trans filter regularly.Carry as little weight as possible like tools in the back etc.Keep an eye on tyre pressures, run them near their maximum pressure.Jack it up and check for any brake drag or binding wheel bearings.I get better economy using 98 octane fuel than I do with the 91 octane unleaded fuel.Even though I get less at the bowser,I still go further than I would have on the same amount of normal unleaded,so that might be worth a try.Buggered oxygen sensors are the biggest thing to cause fuel consumption to rise.If the car has done 100,000 k's or more, theres a big chance they will need replacing.Every little bit helps when trying to get the best economy from your car.My VS V6 sedan gets around 10-12 litres/100 km in town. And around 6-8 litres /100km on the open road.

Are the oxygen sensors easy to change and do they cost much?

I get 13L/100 around town (12 if I drive with a clenched ringhole) and about 8-9 on the hwy at around a dollar twenty.

Car is is perfect condition tune wise and has new genuine O2 sensors.

    Doubt it.

Pod filters tend to suck hot (less dense) air from inside the engine bay.

12l/100km city driving in a 15 year old car is pretty damn good!
