VS motor convershion

How you going guys...i got a 96vs commodore with a 3.8ecotech motor in it it's got neally 260,000kms on it ,im wanting to convert it to a 5l v8 is there really a big problem in doing so? any help would be appreciated thanks

pretty straight forward conversion $2000 should get you all the parts you need.

no i think what his saying is you'll be able to get all the parts.. if you want a reco motor your looking at $3500+ with just a bare engine.

you can buy 2nd hand parts for that, find someone who is wrecking a 5.0 and they will most likely sell you the running gear for around $2000
A reco motor will set you back $$$$$$

i wrecked out a 5.0 not to long ago and sold motor/box/loom/ecu/k frame for $1750

ok thanks guys...ill check out the wreckers sometime shortly, the car is in such good condition i dont wanna let it go and buy a V8 commo, id much rather do somthing with this car since ive lost my license for 12months, one more question bandit, so what your pretty much saying is it'll be out of another written off VS commodore and ill get all the parts with it.

you can get the motor out of anything from VN-VS last conversion i did was a VN 5.0 in to a VR but i used a VR engine loom/ecu and gearbox, the VN looms are slightly different, you can mod them to fit, VR loom is plug and play in to another VR

A wouldnt think a wrecker will sell a conversion that cheap, your better off buying private there is normally a few going on ebay.

theres actually someone selling an entire wrecked vs v8 auto on here for $2000, its down here in sa, but it might be worth looking into if the shipping isnt too costly...
