Hi everyone,
I've recently snapped an axle in my 3.8l 95 VS 5sp and have decided that im going to upgrade the diff as this is my 2nd broken diff in slightly over a year...
I have a few problems/conserns tho regarding my selection of diff and am looking for some advice to help me make the right decision.
At the moment the car has a SS Inductions OTR intake and a 2.5" catback exhaust that goes to a std T5 5spd G/box and a Borg Warner LSD.
I am also looking into installing Extractors and S2 Camshaft and upgrading pushrods/rockers etc as well as minor modifications sometime in the near future.
So I want to find a diff that will withstand a fair amount of torque/power and will take a bit of punishment but wont drain all the extra power i gain from modifications. some sugestions i've had include a 9" but i think that will drain too much or maybe a stronger hemisphere and billet axles in the std housing? Also any sugestions on the best ratio for my situation would be awesome as well.
Cheers!Shane

I put a vx one in my vs Calais best thing I did so smooth.
keep the diff u got, get some billet axles and a decent centre. as for gears, i've got a T5 with 3.7's behind it, i do a heap of highway driving and i dont find it to be too low geared, if u do bugger all highway work u could go lower 3.9-4.11 etc
Thanks Guys. Only prob with the VX one is that i dont have I.R.S and dont particulary wanna change everything over...
LSD not snap axles with a stock engine. my bet is your running a spool hence the axles.
a agood rebuilt LSD with gears is all you need unless you pushing the 400rwkw mark.
anything else would be over kill imo.
VX did have IRS standard my VS didn't and I don't want to convert mine to IRS... too much trouble, time and effort
