Hey Guys Just wondering is there any test I can do to determine if my gear box is on the way out?
1. sometimes when changing from reverse to drive or park to drive the cars wants to stall and has stalled. (sensor inside gerabox?)
2. Gears change normally and smoothly. When I start of though and I give it a little juice sometimes
I hear another noise separte to the engine reving, like a vibrating sound but gears change smoothly -
not sure if its coming from gear box - if the car is on park and I rev it up that sound is not there.
any thoughts would be appreciated.
1....throttle body and idle air control may need cleaning (see the how-to) as these control the engine speed at idle and raise/lower it depending of engine load.
2....Commodores are prone to vibration on acceleration in the lower gears...some are worse than others. Mine sounds like when you are in an aircraft and they start the take-off roll and the aircraft takes on a different sound.

thanks hako.. i'll check and clean throttle body and idle air control.
its a wierd thing..doesnt compromise power or acceleration..i could be just moving slowy and step on gas a little car begins to accelerate ..engine sound great but there is this sound that is
for sure connected to this acceleration..once the car is in full swing its gone..at first it sounded like water swishing through the hoses, so i bled air out of the cooling system till i had a constant stream of coolant flowing out..
im gonna need to open door while i do it and listen to see where its coming from i think..
