vr 5ltr headache

was driving to work when suddenly my car just cut out and died on megot a new alternator put in car ran fine 4 a couple of hours then went to start it again and it wouldn't start just makes a clicking sound when i turn the the ignition on battery is fine so is alternator could it be the starter motor? any help please much appreciated

Why did you think the problem was your alternator in the first place? Did you recharge your battery when you installed the new alternator? Sounds almost like you have a flat battery or a problem with your wiring - alternator to battery or battery to starter motor or both.

nah cause the battery was drained nd the alternator wasnt charging the battery had to jump start it then just kept cutting out after driving since changing the new alternator try to jump start but wont start all the elecs are fine like the lights and all that arnt dim just still makes a clicking sound when tryn to jump start thanx):

mine did the same thing, i thought the battery was flat so i charged it.. still just a quiet click.. so wacked the starter motor with a hammer and its started ever since.. although because i rarely drive my car i think the starter motor just got stuck
