today while driving in the rain my washers wipers and indicaters just went out wouldnt work anymore. i called the R.A.C.V the bloke came out changed the the fuse for them after putting a new fuse in the new one just blew again he said it couldnt be fixed on the spot and i needed to take it somewhere to get it looked at. any ideas on where i should take it (auto elctrician) or mechanic, and has anyone come a cross this problem before? and if so what neede to be done to fix it. help would be appreciated.
The indicators and wipers share the same fuse, which is fuse number 14 under the dash..Id unplug the wiper motor ,then re install a new fuse, and see if the blinkers work ok.If they do and the fuse doesnt blow again, the problem is going to be in the wiper motor circuit. It could be the wiper motor has shorted out internally, but check the wiring going to it first. If theres no obvious short found, like bare wires etc, then try another wiper motor. If the wiper motor is unplugged and the fuse still blows, then check the blinker wiring, especially around any trailer plugs, and in the boot area.

It could be rain related in a sense that water got in the engine bay, hows your guttering in the front of your car, that could overflow and short the motor out, is the car dry now? have you tried the fuses again? for sure follow brett advise.. just a thought about the water and "rain" factor.
yeah the guttering isnt the best in the sense its got a few cracks. yeah the ca is dry now ill try a new fuse for it see how it goes if it still blows out ill have to get a new wiper motor. umm where is the wiper motor located. and is it hard to diconnect?
You have to remove the windscreen wipers. Remove the large plastic nuts from the wiper shafts.Remove the rubber weather strip from the top of the firewall.Prise off the plastic leaf guard clips from below the windscreen and then remove the leaf guard from the vehicle.Remove the wiper motor earth lead screw to the body.Disconnect the wiring connector from the wiper motor.Remove the bolts retaining the wiper motor and linkage assembly to the plenum chamber.Manoeuvre the wiper motor and linkage assembly from the plenum chamber.

before you go tearing the plastic cover off, note: it is extremely sensitive after all these years, and will crack REALLY easily, be careful.
ok ive done all that but my plastic cover is already cracked and me taking it off cracked it even more this is probably the reason the motor conked out in the first place water got in there. is there any chance of getting a new one and what are they called ? (plastic cover) btw i bought a new wiper motor for 40 dollars did i get ripped off ?
The plastic cover you can get from a wrecker or Holden, I'd say your problem lies in the wiper motor put the new one in and if the fuses still blows the poblem may be with the relay box getting water in there could have stuffed it but thats just a guess about the relay box so don't freak out lol, try the new motor and see what happens.
The God's envy man, for man is mortal and everything that man witnesses in life is more beautiful.
Romez how did you go? Is it all working now?
(luvmycommodore) yeah i changed the wiper motor pickup up one for 40 dollars and then i changed the fuse for the wiper/indicaters and now everythings in good running order i think the problem was that the plastic cover was cracked so when raining water got to the wiper motor. so im tryna look for a new plastic cover. thanks for the help
