Default VS: Stage 3 Shift Gear vs. Manual Conversion?

hey all, i have a standard vs v6 auto which is my daily drive and i want to make it more enjoyable to drive. i can the gearbox converted over to a t5 manual unit for approximately $500 (parts only, got a mate who can do the labour for me). my question is, will the manual conversion be more fun on a street car or will a stage 3 shift kit be more fun? what would be faster?

the manual should be faster, more economical and fun than the auto. IMO auto's are crap and unreliable and expensive to fix.

autos are stronger in most cases, all seriou drag cars use autos, my mates vq v8 has stage 2, and thats a ball to drive, stick with shift kit, cause with thet5, youl need heavy duty clutch after a while, takes its toll on your tail shaft if you abuse it, and autos better when u cbf driving, shift kit can be kind of tame in drive, and when you put it in first and shift for it, shifts ALOT harder, i say go auto, autos faster in newer cars these days, up to you, i like my kitted auto's

how much would i be looking at roughly for a stage 3 shift kit? (might be able to get it fitted by a mate for some beers ) im thinking of going for a manual as i love having a clutch pedal, but if the manualised auto is better then ill go that if its going to be the same price as it involves a lot less stuffing around....

chrisdoesitbetter, i probably wont be buying your kit as i have found someone who has offered me the bulk of it for $300. all i need to buy separately is the ecu, loom and a new flywheel.

If you are after strength,go for a manualised auto box.Manual boxes dont like big horsepower and tend to fail quickly when used hard behind a good engine.

ill go for a manual then. i wont be running huge horsepower number anytime soon. i will probably do a l67 conversion when the funds allow but i would only do basic mods to it so the t5 should hold up behind it

yeah i know, the only easily available manual commodores are utes or v8s. plus its a pain trying to find all the parts for a manual conversion, hence why there are so many shift kitted autos....
