waste of money, not worth it...it would be better if you get a hairdryer/leafblower and plumb that up, prob get more power gain from them then u would from the electric supercharger

it'd be better than standard though as she doesn't have the money to get internal things done and she could get away more with that than bolting on a supercharger, she would just go buy a v8 but not allowed to yet

a vid, i think the guy doing this is the one that sells this crap btw.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NncTM9DEf8Y

hmm, i dont know if i'd spend $549 on something like this, different mods would be better. i wouldn't go near this stuff at all, because seriously if it was that easy to get all these benefits wouldn't manufacturers be fitting them to cars originally? who knows that the volume of air that this 'supercharger' flows is even enough to supply your engine at peak rpm? because if it doesn't, then you're creating a pretty sweet restriction right there. and that wouldn't help.

i like how this is in the faq.

    6. Why is it recommended that it only switches on at full throttle, can I run it all the time?

Basically, unless you have your foot flat on floor and the throttle is wide open, no amount of air you pump in will get through. Think of it like a flood gate, if the gate is only half open and you try and pump 5 times more water through the gate, the entrance to the gate will just flood with water. In the case of the throttle taking in air, the same thing will happen, the air will just flood at the entrance of the throttle body and all the way back through the intake pipe. Not until you open the throttles gate all the way open can the air flow freely into the manifold. Knowing that the Electric Intake Supercharger is only going to be on at WOT (wide open throttle) for 10 or maybe 15 seconds at a time, we have designed our motor to get maximum power for its size for that amount of time only. So using the Electric Intake Supercharger when it is not needed will only decrease the lifespan of the unit and give you no gains.
hmm, so water and air react the same under pressure. i was unaware.

If your missus knows what a supercharger is, and why she wants it, then she won't want this. She would be smart enough to know that it's complete bollocks.

What a waste of money. Just watched the Youtube Video of the 'bench testing', what a crock of shit. They should show real results ie. installed in a car, not just hooked up to a power source. A bit of a google search shows nothing in regards to actual results. Go and buy a K&N panel filter, at least they have proven results. You'd be a fool to be sucked into buying that crap.

buy 4 and connect them to a 4 into 1 exhaust collector which then goes to your intake then it might work lol

for crying out loud, lets look at your $550

    $100 - K&N Panel Filter
$100 - Cool air intake direct from Holden
$100 - Get DelcoWizard or Ejukated to do a tune for you

That leaves $350 for you to put something else in between, maybe a nice catback exhaust systems, make sure you do the tune last,

    550-300=250

I agree theres plenty you can do instead of a stupid air restrictor thing

There are some decent electric superchargers out there, about 3 I think. But they are all around the $2000 plus price, come with a decent battery or two and you have a button on the dash that lets you "turn them on", but they only last bout 15 seconds before they need to be recharged.

A real supercharger is a much better idea, on low boost 5 psi or so you and it's mostly just bolt on parts.

The so called electric superchargers on ebay and the likes are just crap fans that will probably cause more or a restriction (loss of power) than anything else.

I don't know about commodores but 4 cylinder cars like civics and integras run ok. I don't see why a commodore should have too many issues, but you always add a little more fuel into the mix just to be sure until it gets tuned properly, better having it run a bit rich than suffering detonation. I guess it depends on how rich the car is running to start with and where on the rev meter it leans out.
