hi guys, well 1st of all i was going to convert my vs1995 to a 5l v8, but now im considering a manual gearbox as its going to be alot cheaper and economical to run(so ive been told) , ok well my v6ecotech motor is in preety good condition and only has a couple slight leaks(very minor)from the sump and the steering rack ,would my best option be to lift the motor out repair whatever needs to be fixed(couple seals ect) and drop it back in then go from there with installing the gearbox,do i need to replace the instrument cluster because its going to be a manual,....if anyone can give me some info i'd appreciate it as this is going to be my serious project on my car, i have common sense and the tool's and basic knowledge just a little kick along would help alot thanks Lance
this will give you the bulk of the information that you need:
The complete Vn-Vr Manual Conversion Guide.
hope that helps. i too was going to do the manual gearbox conversion, had several different conversion kits lined up from various people, some incomplete others complete but basically you will be looking at around $1000 for parts alone. ive decided to go for a stage 2 shift kit instead as it involves less stuffing around and only cost me $290 with a 1-2 corvette servo and postage. the shifts with the shift kit should be just as hard as with a manual with the kit installed and it can be shifted manually or just stick it in d and use as a normal auto. economy wise im not sure of how much more economical a manual gearbox would be but i wouldnt think it would be that much better. i could be wrong though
u can go a vnto vr t5 but ud have to replace the maf with a knock senser,, and nutrel cut the car, or get a vs manual wire loom whitch should hook straight up
