is the standard oil cooler on a vs for the engine oil or transmission oil? im considering fitting a transmission cooler to my car when i install my stage 2 shift kit and servo but if it already has one i wont bother
all auto equipped commodores run a trans cooler which is built into the radiator, these are marginal at best. if there is a external cooler fitted it will also be for the trans. holden fitted these as standard equipment on vehicles that are fitted with a tow-pack. they also became standard on the later VS models.
fitting the largest external trans cooler possible is the best advice you will ever get when discussing a 4l60e equipped commodore. these auto transmissions tend to create a lot of heat which is bad.
fitting a stage 2 shift kit with billet servo also works well

ok so im probably better sticking an aftermarket trans cooler on then. i know supercheap auto do ones for v8s of 4.2l+ should i get one of those ones??? mines only a v6 but if you recommend getting the biggest one possible is this the go?
yeh the little black stock ones arn't the best, i got a big alloy aftermarket one.
