Mag Wheels Question

im thinking about getting a set of mag wheels for my VR commodore (lexcen) what are the widest wheels i can go? im looking at 17-18 inch wheels

i had a VN a few years back with 225's on it causing the steering racks to fail over time the mechanic said the wheels were to wide for this model car hence my question regarding my VR

You are safe with 8"...anymore and you will run into issues on the front.

im looking at wheels on ebay a guy is selling VY SS rims he says they are 18x8 i assume this is 18" diameter and 8" wide 200mm? he is saying he has MAXXIS 235's on those rims how does this work?

From what you are saying, they are 18x8" wheels and they have 235/40R18 tyres on them. Should be no problems fitting onto your VR.

i think the VR shares the same steering rack as the VN i had a problem with my VN steering rack cracking form using 225 size tires are u sure it will be ok?

Your Steering rack will not crack because of wide tyres.....

Steering racks usually fail because the seals let go inside due to age and sometimes abuse. Usually however if it is from abuse you will bend a rack end before damaging the rack itself.

Those wheels & tyres will be fine.
