G'day everyone
i have a Vs series 2 statesman and it wont start
i have checked for spark and fuel and it's there.. i put a diagnostic scanner on and no faults come up.. it broke down while i was on my way back from the city, earlier that night i did wash the engine bay down but i was driving for 2-3 hours before it died on me.. i have checked for injector pulse, power to the box on the passenger front strut tower and i even made sure i didnt snap the dizzy or camshaft.. had the dizzy out and the wheel for the Module was abit rusty so i clean that up and still no go.. any help woud be very much apprichiated as i need it going for work..(lol) Um just wondering what should the voltage be to the box on the passenger side strut tower when cranking? and fuel preasure be when cranking and should it hold at that once fuel pump has stopped pumping??
im assuming its a v8 to start with
regardless fuel pressure shoud be around 250 to 300 kpa and it should be maintained when the key is off for a while. if the pressure drops stright off than the pump is possibly gorn, or there is a fuel leak ither in the lines or injectors are leaking.
not to shure about voltage to the box but it controls fuel injectors and spark, it shuld be fine.
how is the spark, nice and strong?
also check a plug and see if its carboned/fouled, colder weather needs a storng spark to get these things runnin.
also don't rule out the immobliser, check for the flashing light on the dash, it should go out as soon as you crank the engine, if it dosnt, try unlocking the car than stright after crank the engine.
failing all that, im possibly guessing the fuel pump has gorn, or the fusabol link near the battery has gorn.
yeah mate a v8, fuel preasure was 310kpa.. i will check for the secruity light and see what happens..
cheers mate
How strong and what color is the spark? Same thing happended to my 5 litre had spark and fuel but wouldn't go after a engine bay wash it went for a little while and just stopped all of a sudden. Turned out spark wasnt strong enough and wouldnt go no matter what I did.
Brought a new coil, put it in and it went 1st go. cleaned up the old coil and there was a pretty big crack in it.
hey Mate the spark is like a bluey colour, the spark jumps 10mm onto the rocker cover when i check it.. i changed the coil first and still the same problem.. could it be a fuel preasure reg??
G'day grab some aerostart and give it a spray in the air filter ( 5 secs should do) and then crank and see if it fires should narrow it down to either fuel (if it fires ) or spark ( no fire)
