just wondering is it hard to remove the black stirps going down the side of 97 vs commodores? and could anyone tell me the proccess of doing this?
cheers. aaron.
I'll bite, you can either rip them off if you're going to repaint or if not,
Use some 20lb fishing line and file through it. Then you'll need a caramel wheel to get the remnants of the glue (sikaflex) off. You can do it without a caramel wheel, but I tried and it took hours. It'll come out without a scratch.
+1 for this having been covered countless times before. I think there's even a sticky on it somewhere.
And be careful using a caramel wheel on VS, if it has factory paint it'll be acrylic I'm fairly sure, this stuff softens with heat and will burn through if you're not very careful how long you linger in one spot, how much pressure you apply, etc etc. Done this job a few times, it's a bastard job but if you plod through it slowly and patiently (not like I did on my car) you'll usually end up with a passable result.
Plenty of ways it can go wrong though, you have been warned.
