Diff whine... can it be stopped?

Hey guys, just bought an el-cheapo VS ute.

The diff has a whine. Is it a case of checking/adding oil to quieten it down? Or is it more terminal where replacement is necessary?

i would check that theres oil in it before doing anything else.

probably a good idea just to change the oil anyway and see how that goes

Check the oil and if that doesn't fix it shove another diff in there - they are quite cheap.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.

Never checked diff oil before. I know there's a bolt at the rear of the diff to undo, but what level should it be at. How do I drain the old oil out etc?

Seriously, don't try it.
To drain the oil, remove 1 of the lower bolts and have a container ready.
