    Default VT Brake Upgrade

Just a general question here about the vt brake upgrade, i apologise if this has already been asked/answered elsewhere. just wondering if theres any particular reason why people seem to only really upgrade the front brakes? why not upgrade the rears as well?

you can upgrade the rear brakes...but the handbrakes are different because of the brake shoe thing.
there's kits on ebays to change them over
rear brakes arent really used (well, not as opposed to the front brakes) either...so i guess people dont bother with them

Also I dont think that the rear brakes are significantly better, both are single piston (i think) and a lot of work for very little gain...

make sense i guess. so general idea is just upgrade the fronts, brake booster and master to vt spec, leave the rears at vs spec?

Its like comparing the front and rear brakes on a bike. The front always does most of the stopping. The back wheel will just skid along and not slow the bike if it is braked moderately without the front brakes applied as well.

good analogy as i understand the mechanics in a bike so much better than those of car. makes good sense now, whenever i tinkered with the brakes on my mountain bike i always found it best to tighten the front brake pads and loosen the rears slightly so that braking mostly happened in the front. guessing the same logic applies here with the vt front brake upgrade
