Default 93 vr berlina problems maybe?

gday I bought a 93 v6 berlina auto cheap as it had a stuffed gearbox so I then bought a 95 vr minus a motor from a workmate and swapped the boxes. The car ran well and the gearbox worked well except the engine warning lamp came on after a km or 2.So I checked the fault codes andnit was the gearbox which I put in to get fixed. They replaced the solenoids or whatever and said it was better but they noticed some material in the oil and the warning lamp returns at around 80kph and the gearbox would need a rebuild or get another one, it may last 6 months maybe.Anyway so I thought maybe the ecu was spiked or damaged when the othher gearbox stuffed up so I swapped the ecus and took it for a drive and took it up to 100kph and sat on that for around 60km and no warning light came on and it ran fine. Then I noticed that the distance to empty display was erratic and would go from 220km to 30km and so on and as the fuel gauge isnt working at the moment I swapped the ecus back again both ecus are labelled 3.8l auto. And the warning lamp reappeared at 80kph again no change in the performance of the car I still drove at 100kph for around 30km and nothing happened. When I start the car the warning lamp doesnt come on until I go over 80kph around town it is fine.It has been 6 months now and my question is wether you think the gearbox has the fault or does the ecu have a fault should I maybe swap the modules in the ecu or just leave things alone cheers.

bye the sounds of it i would just run the computer that works correctly. and the dte could be an issue with the fuel gauge

I think from memory they are 4hdd boxes both the same anyway neither were modified the computer from the 95vr doesnt come up with any fault codes only buggers up the distance to empty meter the fault codes were 81 82 which they replaced the solenoid circuits the fault that comes up on the 93 computer now at 80kph I havent checked yet as it disappears after the car is turned off.

to save u piss farting around changing shit that isnīt the problem, i suggest u try to get the fault code out of it whether it be from a tec2 computer or check whilst it has the code when the engine light is on.
