Hey guys,
Debadged my ute the other day and the badge came off but some glue shit satd on and is know hard, its like embeded into the paint and looooks realy ugly, badge is ***d to
Also the holden badge came off with alot of paint to so was wondering whats the best way to go baout respraying it as such?
Should i bog it up abit n prime n respay?
Cheers guys
For the paint taken off yeah prob best to do what you said.
The glue you are referring to if Im thinking the right stuff should be black?
Its on all of them, what I did was just scratch majority of it off with my fingernail then just got some metho on a towel and rubbed till it all came off. Worked a treat. Only a very very faint outline on the back now. Oh also, get a blowdryer/heatgun onto it to soften it up first.
Good luck.
the glue is like a orange colour, its hard as a rock
tried heaps of different things but only way to get it off is to scrtch it off i guess, damm series 3 badges![]()
Methy spritits, or if u can get your hands on some ethanol, just wash it off quick, I dont know if it'll go yucky on your paint
metho wont do anything tryed it before
prepsol, which is basically what decider suggested, glue and tar remover. soak a rag in it and dab it on the tape till its all saturated, then itll rub off with the pad of your finger. watch out though cos' it (or thinners) will soften the paint, so if you get impatient and use your fingernail it could bite down and take a chunk off.
with the paint coming off, personally i would just touch it up. i suppose it depends on how much cam off. but anything up to an inch or two can be pretty easily hidden with globs of paint.
Just sand around the area where the paint came off a tiny bit then just put bit of paint down, wait til it's properly dry, cut it back and it should look pretty good.
ok thnx for all the replys. gonna give this a bang asap, looks like shit atm
The standerd white for commies is herion white to my knowledge??
cheers
series 3 ute then yes it is
k cheers, werw can i buy touch up paint for it? supercheap? Autone?
Cheers for the help guys
Theres a few different whites used on commodores like alaskan white, alpine white etc.Just write down the paint code from under the bonnet and take that with you.The auto shop will have a book near the touch up paint section where you can look up this code and it will tell you which color it is and it also tells you which touch up paint can number to buy, so it will match your colour.
yer i had a look at the colour code the other day. will do that, thnx againa guys
I know a tradie who paints houses and recommends using acetone for getting rid of paint and solvents from anything.
id try sika remove, its made by sikaflex and dissolves sika flex(and thats pretty hard core stuff) also try silicone solvent
