For the paint taken off yeah prob best to do what you said.
The glue you are referring to if Im thinking the right stuff should be black?
Its on all of them, what I did was just scratch majority of it off with my fingernail then just got some metho on a towel and rubbed till it all came off. Worked a treat. Only a very very faint outline on the back now. Oh also, get a blowdryer/heatgun onto it to soften it up first.
    Good luck.

The badges I have removed had a black double sided tape. Yours must have been re-stuck with somthing else. You could try a bit of paint thinners to soften it a bit.

prepsol, which is basically what decider suggested, glue and tar remover. soak a rag in it and dab it on the tape till its all saturated, then itll rub off with the pad of your finger. watch out though cos' it (or thinners) will soften the paint, so if you get impatient and use your fingernail it could bite down and take a chunk off.

with the paint coming off, personally i would just touch it up. i suppose it depends on how much cam off. but anything up to an inch or two can be pretty easily hidden with globs of paint.

Just sand around the area where the paint came off a tiny bit then just put bit of paint down, wait til it's properly dry, cut it back and it should look pretty good.

Theres a few different whites used on commodores like alaskan white, alpine white etc.Just write down the paint code from under the bonnet and take that with you.The auto shop will have a book near the touch up paint section where you can look up this code and it will tell you which color it is and it also tells you which touch up paint can number to buy, so it will match your colour.

I know a tradie who paints houses and recommends using acetone for getting rid of paint and solvents from anything.
