Last night i lost all gears nd acceleration in my beloveded 97 VS, as i had a reco tranny put in 3 months ago, i thought it couldnt be that, on inspection of the oil on the road which was red i was thinking a seal is gone, looking at these 2 hoses/pipes the leaks coming from the red circled hose/pipe, could anyone give me any advice on how i could fix myself & what i would need as im thinking it wouldnt take long to fix or could there be other problems plmk
thanks guys

Id just degrease around the engine and engine bay.Refill the transmission, then start the car,put the transmission into gear(idling in your driveway, dont actually drive it anywhere). You should be able to see exactly where the fluid is coming from. Then its just a matter of replacing the broken/split trans cooler pipe.A new trans cooler line should be only cheap to buy,and be easy to fit.You should be able to replace it yourself no problem.

My VS (95 model) has the rubber hoses and clamps for the trans cooler pipes, yours looks like the later type which are "screw together" trans cooler pipes. (the clamp type pipes always seem to leak so holden changed to the screw type ones)You should be able to just unscrew the old pipe, and screw another new pipe straight on.Try a wreckers if a new one is to expensive, but new ones shouldnt be to costly.Theres probably too much pressure in the line for it to be patched up ,but first up, check the trans cooler pipe unions for looseness before replacing anything. If you know 100% where the leak is,just look at the broken/leaking pipe and look where it unscrews at each end and undo it with a couple of spanners.Make sure the spanners fit the pipe unions well, they sometimes round off easily, which really makes getting them undone a real pain .Spray some wd 40 on the unions first. It is pretty straightforward though. You will be ok.Cheers.
