Just having a few problems again, just wondering what sensor, if it is a sensor, would be causing a VS V6 Commodore to not start.
Symptoms:
- When turn key red dash lights come on but nothing happens there doesn't appear to be any noises
- Hold the key on for several seconds and car will eventually start after several times of turning the key on and off
Also the other day this happened so i clutch started the car and had no windscreen wipers, indicators or interior light, i got car home turned it off, turned the key to start and it fired up straight away and all the before mentioned items worked. Strange and bizarre, car has never done this.
I forgot to mention that when the car is running, i believe that orange engine light on dash comes on when there is a problem generally, this doesn't appear to be happening.
Check the metal key reader around the ignition switch. The key might not be touching it properly when its in the ignition. It also could be a faulty inhibitor switch on the gearshift.Next time it does it,try moving the gear stick a bit and see if it starts then.If it does ,thats the problem. If it makes no difference then make sure the metal contact on the key touches the metal ring around the ignition switch. If that still doesnt make any difference, than the battery in the key head might be flat, you will need to get a new key head.
Heres a link to a thread about checking for error codes. If you scroll down near the bottom of the posts in the link ,theres some good pictures that show you how to do this test as well.
